Mary Anne Groen

As an Air Force brat and the youngest of seven children, Mary Anne experienced the need to adapt quickly to new situations and developed a “thinking on your feet” skill early in life. This skill has proven invaluable throughout her varied career.

A Spartan through and through, Mary Anne studied Humanities at SJSU and became a freelance writer for a variety of publications including the Gilroy Dispatch, Morgan Hill Times and the Hollister Freelancer. She was also a regular contributor of feature articles for Sea Magazine. Mary Anne started her own social media/marketing consulting firm working with a multi-million dollar travel company, a start-up 3D Entertainment Company, and a local solar installation entrepreneur.

In 2009, Mary Anne became Chief of Staff for the District 8 elected official who then became Vice Mayor.

Mary Anne has been married for 26 years to her husband Martin and they have three grown children and two black labs. Waterskiing, snow skiing, biking, hiking, and traveling are the things she enjoys during her free time.
