Fred Buzo

Originally from the San Joaquin Valley, Fred brings a small-town calmness to his work. He has extensive experience in collaborating with government officials, community organizations, and neighborhood associations to address complex issues. He recently served as the San Jose Director at SPUR, focusing on urban planning and land use matters. Previously, he was the Associate State Director for AARP California in San Jose, pioneering local advocacy initiatives and advocating for age-friendly policies in urban planning. During the pandemic, Fred led AARP California's advocacy on vaccine distribution and advised the Governor's Community Vaccine Advisory Committee.

Fred has also held roles as a Policy Advisor in the District 10 council office, Chief of Staff for the District 4 Council office, a Policy Advisor for Mayor Sam Liccardo, and as Mayor Liccardo's Policy and Legislative Director during his time as a councilmember. Outside of work, Fred has been actively involved in various community initiatives, including chairing the San Jose Redistricting Commission and Community Working Groups for Downtown & Diridon BART Stations. He also serves on the board of the Silicon Valley League of Conservation Voters and advisory board for San Jose State University's Certificate of Real Estate Development program.
