Councilmember Dev Davis represents District 6 in San Jose. Before being elected in 2016, Councilmember Davis spent 12 years as an education researcher for Stanford University’s Center for Research on Education Outcomes (CREDO). She has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Master’s degrees in Public Policy and Education Policy, Organization, & Leadership from Stanford University.
Councilmember Davis has a strong interest in community engagement and has served as president of the North Willow Glen Neighborhood Association and Public Relations Chair for the Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Partnership with KaBOOM!, a nonprofit that helps communities create playgrounds. Dev has also served as the Chair of the San José Early Care and Education Commission and on the Junior League of California’s State Public Affairs Committee. As part of the Committee, Dev was heavily involved in a number of initiatives, including successfully advocating for several bills to fight human trafficking.
Councilmember Davis and her husband Chris have two children who attend Willow Glen Elementary School and Hoover Middle School.
